Not happy about new marketing of product
I was on a subscription package for a similar ( extra- dry) neutrogena product which is now discontinued and worked great. This new recommended, alternative product is about half the size and now costs $5.00 more. I won’t be re-purchasing.

Works well for the price, but I’m not blown away
This product is really nice to put on to your skin. Blends well and feels moisturizing at first. However it soon feels just a little dry and almost slightly grainy throughout the day. I still use it daily though. I like how gentle it is and how its not scented weirdly or overly expensive. Worth the price!

great moisturizer – bulky jar
This is a great moisturizer – very hydrating, but not greasy – works well under makeup. One of the best I’ve tried. Be careful if you use it with retinoids, sometimes ends up stinging. I just wish they would change the jar but keep the product the same — they put the small amount of moisturizer in a bulky plastic jar. Kind of wasteful and makes it harder to travel with it.

Good product, but…
Tried a similar, but much more expensive product and went searching for a budget friendly alternative. I love the way this feels particularly in hot months when you don’t want anything heavy on your face. It absorbs well, and make up glides on over it. I don’t like that it has that hinky packaging that has an inner jar that tapers down so you have half as much product in there as you think you’re getting. But then I’m “thrifty” (cheap). If you are lucky enough to have an Aldi store in your area, they have a product that is very similar and a quarter of the price.

Discontinued
I really liked this product for my dry skin. I’ve tried other moisturizers but always came back to this. You’ll find it’s not offered on the Neutrogena website anymore and has been discontinued. They do have another gel moisturizer but it’s not listed for extra dry skin.

+ no fragrance+ not drying+ affordable- not for oily skin types: my nose felt/looked less clogged after switching to a moisturizer suited for oily/combo skin- container: not ideal as there is potential for contamination (low chance, though)Update: I have been able to make this moisturizer work for me as I now use a salicylic acid wash for 2′ and layer this product underneath an occlusive (Vanicream Cream). I think you can still use this for oily skin so long as you supplement with an BHA.Update 2: 12/28/23: the hyalurnoic acid is quite low on the ingredient list so not sure how much work it is doing, but the gylcerin is prob doing most of the heavy lifting. This isnt as moisturizing as Id think it to be, but hard to say b/c i was using an essence that had HA and my skin was still dry from that.

I purchased the 1.7 oz, of Extra-Dry Skin gel-cream. I honestly was seriously skeptical about buying this. For the first time ever, the skin on my face just absolutely dried up. It was seriously dry and at the time I feared it was psoriasis. I originally was using just some random lotion (body lotion to be exact), and then I bought some off brand cetaphil. That only put a layer on my face that went away quickly. As a college student that lacks money, I was really skeptical because I didn’t want to buy crap that was $14 and have it not work, but my skin got so bad that I would try anything. The box and everything came in tact. At first I tried it, it did burn. I can’t contribute it to the ingredients in the bottle because previously I had basically just stripped my skin of everything that almost anything put on my face, even if it was meant to be soothing, burned. I continued with putting it on my face when I felt it was extremely dry, so usually mornings when I wake up, right after classes (which is usually around 3-4 hours later, and then right after my shower (since I exfoliate). Now it is not completely “long lasting”. I do have to reapply a few times a day, but in the long run, I have noticed that my skin has become a lot more moist and “plump” compared to what it was before. Before I rubbed my face and it sounded like sandpaper and felt even worse. Now my skin feels amazing, my face no longer burns when I apply this stuff, and overall it really does give a cool refreshing feeling. There really is no smell to it, unless you are super super sensitive to smells and directly sniffed the cream then I guess you could say it is “chemically”, and by chemically I just mean like nothing has been added. They just add the ingredients and nothing else. You may smell something every time you open the bottle, maybe if your face is close enough, but once you apply it to your skin I noticed the smell vanishes quite quickly. I read a lot of the reviews and I took a chance and I am extremely happy with this product. Even when my skin goes back to normal, I plan on using this stuff. For me this stuff worked like a miracle. Once applied definitely gives you a smoother feel to the face, but don’t expect immediate results. It does go away and that dry skin will come back, but much like an ointment or medicine, you just have to keep applying it when you feel necessary. In no way shape or form am I being paid to write a good review. I just found this stuff as a new college student in a slightly new environment (same state, just different city), with skin problems, to be an amazing solution that is worth the “splurge”.

Is Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost Gel-Cream Worth the Splash?
I’ve been using the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Face Moisturizer Gel-Cream, and it’s been great for keeping my face moisturized. The gel-cream texture feels light and refreshing, and it absorbs well into the skin. I’ve noticed an improvement in the hydration levels of my skin, and it doesn’t feel greasy. However, the only downside for me is the price point. While it’s an effective product, I feel that the amount you get for the price is a bit too much. Despite this, if you’re looking for a reliable and effective hydrating moisturizer, the Neutrogena Hydro Boost does the job well.

Excellent product, new favorite moisturizer
WOW. So, I didn’t buy this product expecting it to be a miracle worker, but …I am 30 years old and raised in Florida. I’m not sure whether it’s age or moving north that has caused the problem, but in the wintertime I suffer from extremely dry skin, especially around my eyes and under my chin. I was noticing that the dryness was giving this skin a wrinkled, crepe-y appearance that made me look much older, so I decided I needed to invest in a better moisturizer. I’m an Amazon addict, so I came here first looking for an under-eye moisturizer. I was specifically looking for something that was gentle and frangrance-free, since I have sensitive skin, especially around my eyes.After reading the reviews for this product (and the helpful one that explained that the extra-dry skin gel-cream had the same ingredients as the eye gel-cream for cheaper), I decided to give this a try. Compared to my usual moisturizer cost of $30 for 16oz, this was a big investment, but I figured if it didn’t work it was only $15 out of pocket.After two weeks of using it, I can say that I will DEFINITELY be purchasing this product again. Not only has it solved my dry skin problems around my eyes and neck, but I have been applying to the rest of my face at night before bed (I used a lighter weight moisturizer on the rest of my face during the day). I’ve found that my skin overall is smoother and the skin tone more even after a couple weeks of using this product. I struggle with adult acne on my chin/cheeks and have not had any breakouts and in fact may actually be getting fewer zits since starting this routine.I will note that you should be careful applying this around your eyes. I’ve found that if I get any of the gel in my eyelashes, it will migrate into my eyes and cause a slight irritation. It’s less than other products I have used, but still noticeable.Update 2/22/2017: I’ve been using this for almost two months now and my original jar is just starting to run out. I am still blown away by how well this moisturizes. Regarding my acne, although I still get occasional breakouts, any problem spots heal much faster using this moisturizer – red spots fade and disappear over the course of a couple of days, rather than a couple of weeks. I will definitely be continuing to use this – I’ve subscribed to have a new jar sent from Amazon every other month!Update 11/6/2018: I’ve been using this moisturizer for almost 2 years now and it’s the only thing in my daily routine that never changes. It’s absolutely worth the investment, and I have it on a monthly Subscribe & Save. I’ve gifted it to a few friends and they have all converted as well – one friend even complained because her husband actually stole her jar, he liked it so much! Out of all the skin products I have used over the years, this remains my all-time favorite.

A Holy Grail for Silky Smooth, Glowing Skin!
So, I just got this to try after trying the Hydro Boost fragrance-free body gel cream and loving it, and I’m happy to report that I’m beyond thrilled with the matching Face Moisturizer!I have been interested in skin care for over a decade, and as an avid holistic / natural health fanatic, I would always shy away from “conventional” brands (usually for good reason!). However, over the years all of the natural products and their 5 million essential oils were just not cutting it for me, a lot of times I didn’t jive with the scent or didn’t want some of the oils. I do love EvanHealy but can’t always swing the price point. Anyways, I am practicing an 80/20 lifestyle and decided to try the HydroBoost line after hearing great things and being fed up with my peeling, broken out skin. The literal absence of any scent surprised me, and there isn’t any blue coloring like in the non fragrance-free. No burning, tingling, or irritation upon usage. It’s like my skin just drank it.Being someone with combination acne-prone skin, finding the right moisturizer can be a challenge. However, this product strikes the perfect balance, providing hydration without being greasy or heavy.It’s a lightweight and fast-absorbing formula and I think it’s going to be great for long-term acne control.

Really Like this Moisturizer
What do I like? It little goes a long way. Goes on nice and easy and absorbs well quickly. I use this in the morning and evening. In the morning I put this on, followed by sunscreen and then my foundation. Wait a few minutes before each application. No kidding, I do see a difference. This is my second purchase. A decent price for a very good moisturizer. I’ve never tried Neutragena, but the reviews were very good. Nothing is going to make you look 10 years younger, but this makes my skin nice and soft, and I have noticed a bit of difference in some deep wrinkles, especially on one side of my face, which were quite noticeable. I haven’t noticed any improvement with Olay, honestly. Give it a try and see how you like it. I think you will! I’m a senior citizen (quite), and every little bit helps!

This is the latest version of the product
I didn’t realize that Neutrogena had a newer version of this product and was going to return it as the name is slightly different and the bottle is different. After checking with Neutrogena I discovered this is the latest and improved version. Have only tried it a couple of times but seems just as good as the previous version.

We live in Colorado where it’s extremely dry and this is the only moisturizer that works on myskin. Love this!
I am in my 60s with very dry skin but sweat easily. So most moisturizer makes me sweat worse or feel like an oil slick. This does not. It feels wonderful the second I put it on. Soaks in quickly and has NO smell. I can’t say enough good things. I would have been using moisturizer the last 30 years if I had found this.

A bit sticky
I used this product as a replacement for my Curology moisturizer that was getting a bit too pricey. The consistency is similar to the Curology moisturizer, however, I was looking for something a bit thicker/more moisturizing so I chose the Extra-Dry version. My one complaint is that it leaves my skin feeling a bit sticky and almost oily. It doesn’t absorb into my skin completely. Everything else is great so I’m going to try the “water gel” version to see if it’s better for my skin type.

A nice moisturizer for winter’s colder weather.
This product is still light and easy to apply, like the lighter moisture gel by Neutrogena that I use in warm weather. But it is a bit heavier which works in cold, dry winter air. It is unscented, very absorbent and is a better alternative for my dry sensitive skin during winter months. I’m a Neutrogena fan for the quality of its products and also for the price point.

Recent change to formula
I absolutely swear by this product and I’ve been purchasing it for almost 3 years now. I recently ordered a new batch off of Amazon and something is totally off with the consistency. My face is sticky after application and remains sticky until I cleanse my face. I’m so bummed by this recent development. It took me so long to find a product I that worked so well with my skin tone.

Makes skin soft and no allergic reaction
This product I received doesn’t have the blue tint at all if you wondered after the other reviews and pics. I did like how quickly it absorbed into my skin and how soft it makes my face even after just a couple uses!. I am prone to breaking out from SO many things and this didn’t bother me at ALL. No clogged pores, no redness, and no sticky feeling. No strong perfumes or smells, just a very light scent of perhaps silicone or petroleum (?) or something which fades quite quickly. But for your FYI it does NOTHING for wrinkles, and doesn’t seem to last a really long time because it’s so light and I live in the desert. But it does last a night or a work day, just not both without reapplying. I felt it was worth the price to have one that didn’t bother my skin and kept my skin soft and moisturized, especially around my nose and cheeks from my CPAP.

LOVE this – apply while face is still damp
I love this product. The unscented version can be hard to find, and I find it superior to the scented version. I learned a tip from a dermatologist that I thought I would pass along. It’s great to apply this to a slightly damp face because it allows the hyaluronic acid in the product, to plump up the skin. Hyaluronic acid is a humectant so if you apply it to dry skin, I can’t really do it’s full job. The only issue I run into (which is no fault of this product’s!) is because I apply a 20% vitamin C serum ascorbic acid first, and you’re not supposed to dampen in your face after applying it or it will wash off so, if I want to dampen my face to get the full benefit out of this product, I have to wait about 30 minutes after applying the serum before applying it. But if you’re not using a water soluble serum, I definitely recommend applying this to a slightly damp face. You’ll notice a difference as opposed to applying to dry skin.
